We are looking for an overarching study director for AT/BT/ST as our current holder of the position is retiring. Healthcare is undergoing a shift from a 5.5-year medical education and AT (General Practice Training) to a 6-year accredited medical education followed by ST (Specialist Training), where we will offer both standalone and integrated BT (Basic Training). Therefore, we are seeking an overarching study director to hold together the hospital's exciting journey to offer the best start for younger colleagues who will undergo BT, as well as offering AT for those colleagues remaining in the system.

Job Description

Danderyd Hospital has an established organization for AT and ST, with AT and ST managers respectively, as well as local study directors at each operational area. We now need to prepare for BT and are looking for a specialist physician with an interest in education to take overall coordination responsibility for AT/BT/ST across the hospital. AT/BT/ST falls under the hospital's FoUUi (Research, Development, Education, and Innovation) organization, and you will report directly to the Director of FoUUi.

The hospital faces several challenges with the introduction of BT. The role involves developing the work to introduce BT while simultaneously phasing out AT. The quality of AT must be maintained, as well as the good ST education available at the hospital. At the same time, preparation must be made to introduce integrated BT/ST simultaneously with standalone BT. Region Stockholm aims to expand ST in general practice, which also affects emergency hospitals as they are to include part of their education in emergency care. The role requires good collaboration and organizational skills as cooperation with all operational areas is required. The holder of the position will also participate in region-wide working groups and serve as Danderyd Hospital's regional representative in AT/BT/ST matters.

The position can be combined with some clinical work within the desired specialty.

Responsibilities include, among other things:

• Overall study director responsibility for AT/BT/ST
• Leading existing networks for AT/ST and creating networks for BT
• Working regionally with AT/BT/ST matters and collaborating with other hospitals in the region
• Establishing and setting up standalone BT and BT in integrated ST both within the hospital and for other specialties not present at the hospital (such as general practice)
• Responsible for the local education program for AT/ST and BT.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a specialist-competent physician, preferably within a specialty represented at the hospital.
• Has several years of experience in educating and mentoring physicians.
• Has carried out change work and has experience in change management.
• Updated mentor training, previous study director experience, managerial experience, as well as a dissertation are meritorious.

Knowledge development is happening rapidly within healthcare, and Danderyd Hospital wants to contribute to this development while continuously working to develop working methods that streamline work and simultaneously promote patient safety.

Research

The research areas are closely linked to the care offered at the hospital's clinics, and most of the research at Danderyd Hospital is conducted within the Karolinska Institutet, Department of Clinical Sciences, Danderyd Hospital KI DS.

Development and Innovation

The purpose of UoI (Development and Innovation) is to create conditions for driving development, innovation, digitalization, and informatics that should support all the hospital's operations. Development also occurs through continuous quality and operational development with the aim of supporting operations in various ways so that they can provide the safest possible care and nursing.

The Educational Mission

Every year, approximately 2,000 pupils and students complete part of their clinical education at Danderyd Hospital. Most are students at the Karolinska Institutet or at one of the other universities in Region Stockholm.
